I know that after the spring season is over, the temptation and necessity of getting a home repaired would get stronger but, you need to keep the con artists, who are always ready to exploit natural disasters for personal profit, at bay.

* Ask to see any required state/local permits or licenses
* Shop around for the best deals
* Get all terms of the contract in writing
* Be aware that you have the right to cancel within three business days
* Do not pay in cash and last but not the least
* Call any hotline number to check out a business before drawing up a contract with them.
