Buy the right fasteners for your picture and wall. The picture nails and hooks are the common fasteners. These fasteners are not useful in all conditions. Do not use regular nail on concrete, stucco, or brick wall. It will not hang the things properly. A concrete screw will prevent clipping of surface of wall. You must remove chunks if you are using nail on concrete surface. The chunks around the nail can be removed with hammering.
If the object is heavy, use plastic anchor to fasten into hole. Please ensure there is no damage to the wall. You must use the right type of fastener for the surface of your wall. After this, you should decide on the placement. You have to decide how high object has to be hanged. According to the rule of thumb, the centre of the picture should be at eye level at the time of hanging.
You should measure the picture to decide the mounting height. You can measure from bottom of the picture to the highest point of hanging wire. Make out the hanging height by subtracting half of picture height. This difference should be added to eye height level that you measured previously.
The measuring is not complete yet. Mark, where the bottom of the hook will hit. After you have the vertical mark, you should take the horizontal measurement. This will ensure the picture is in the centre of the space. Then mark the intersection [meeting point] of vertical and horizontal lines.
Screw the fastener into wall. When the nail is in place, hang the object. Do not mark the object with frame. When the picture is on hook, move backwards. By this way, you will check the level. Adjust level by shifting the picture right or left. Measure carefully, if you want to hang multiple pictures on the wall. You should hold the pictures, or lay them on floor in the way you want. You have to measure the wall space. Measure each picture. By this way, you can know how much space is left.
